Self-defense Jujutsu and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) share common roots in traditional Japanese martial arts, but they diverge in focus and application. Self-defense Jujutsu emphasizes practical techniques for real-life scenarios, prioritizing efficient defenses against various attacks, including strikes and grabs. Techniques often involve joint locks, throws, and strikes, aiming to neutralize an opponent quickly and decisively. In contrast, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu places a heavy emphasis on ground fighting, focusing on grappling and submission techniques. BJJ practitioners learn to control opponents on the ground, seeking dominant positions to submit them with chokes or joint locks. While both disciplines emphasize effective self-defense, self-defense Jujutsu tends to cover a broader range of situations, while BJJ excels particularly in ground combat. SDA focuses on Self Defense Jujutsu.
