Fighting Foundations™ is where it all begins. FF is a 27 lesson program developed by the Valente brothers in 1999 under the direct supervision of Grandmasters Helio Gracie and Pedro Valente Sr. Fighting Foundations™ is the only group class curriculum that was reviewed and approved by Helio Gracie.

Fighting Foundations™ includes over 100 techniques that could literally save your life during a real street self defense confrontation. This innovative teaching method is an adaptation by the Valente brothers of Grand Master Helio Gracie’s private class curriculum to be used in a group settings. Originally, Grandmaster Helio’s Self Defense system was only taught through private lessons. Group lessons were designed to prepare students for tournaments. The Valente Brothers developed the FF program in order to allow students to learn Grand Master Helio’s system through group lessons. We are honored to be the exclusive academy in Colorado Springs to use the VB Method standardized curriculums for group class instruction.

Frequent practice is essential if efficiency is to be gained in the Fighting Foundations class. The key to learning jūjutsu (jiu-jitsu) is repetition. The ultimate goal is to condition your reflexes so that you can automatically react in a critical situation.
