From Miami Gym Floors to Pikes Peak Mats: A Dream That Started in My Head
Over a decade ago, I was a personal trainer to celebrities, athletes and everyday hero's just like you. After i great friend moved to Colorado Springs and I came to visit my imagination turned to the mountains. Colorado wasn’t a place—it was a feeling.
I imagined:
- A place where I could live out my mountain biking dreams
- A place where I could stare off into the mountains with joy
- A place where I didn't have to sit in traffic for 4-5 hours a day
Imagination doesn’t need permission.
That first scouting trip to Colorado Springs—before the move, before the boxes, before the dream had a name—started with a simple mission: *find a Jiu Jitsu home.*
I visited around ten schools. Every single one was laser-focused on sport BJJ —points, podiums, and podium selfies. Not one prioritized Jujutsu for self-defense. The gap wasn’t just obvious—it was blaring. Back in Miami, I sat with my professors, the Valente Brothers. I laid out what I’d seen. They locked eyes with me and said: “Find one student. Teach them our method. See what happens.” That was it. No business plan. No investor pitch.
Just one student and a promise to stay true to self defense, reality-based training.
In that moment, my imagination caught fire.
I saw:
- A school where survival trumped medals
- A community where confidence was the ultimate trophy
- A Pikes Peak region filled with regular people—moms, professionals, teens—who walked taller because they knew they could protect themselves and the ones they love
